GREG ABEL JOINS KPI
President Joel Kitay today announced the hiring of Greg Abel to assist Kitay Productions in the areas of business development and marketing. Abel's role will be to reach out to advertising agencies and corporations to solicit new video clients, and to help publicize the cost-effective and award-winning services that Kitay Productions has to offer.
Greg brings more than a dozen years of public relations, corporate communications, and journalism experience into his role with Kitay Productions. With a background that includes communications leadership roles for public and private companies, as well as PR and event marketing agencies, Abel's strengths include strategic planning, copy writing, media relations, and diverse and extensive relationships in the business community.
Prior to becoming a consultant for Kitay Productions and founding his own public relations firm, Abel Communications, Greg was a Director for Qorvis Communications in Washington, D.C., where he managed strategic communications programs for clients including Adobe Systems, Motorola, and SafeNet. His position at Qorvis was preceded by four years as Director of Corporate Communications for Aether Systems, Inc., a publicly-traded wireless technology company. At Aether, Abel guided PR planning and execution through periods of dramatic growth, including two public offerings, 10 acquisitions, 3 joint ventures and dozens of partnerships. At the same time, Greg also managed media relationships with top-tier business and technology press, including The Wall St. Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, CNBC, MSNBC, Business Week, and many others.
From 1995-2000, Abel ran can corporate and athlete communications for Octagon, a global leader in sports and event marketing, working on publicity and marketing campaigns for world-renowned athletes, including Grant Hill, David Robinson, Bonnie Blair, Sheryl Swoopes, and Anna Kournikova.
Abel's career began as a reporter with the Baltimore Business Journal, where he covered technology and manufacturing and won numerous writing awards.
